Reawakening Otaniemi

Otaniemi is well-known for its forested campus, but residents rarely interact with the natural environment. Our research showed lack of benches and clear pathways discourages residents from venturing into the wooded areas.

Lackirsudden, a location renowned for its stunning views, was selected as
the project site. I conducted an extensive analysis of the area, considering all-natural elements, and developed a CAD drawing of the location. Then, Grasshopper, a parametric design tool, was used on the CAD drawing to develop a nature-driven design that harmonized with the surrounding.

This product showcases the most captivating views and functions as a sound barrier, preserving the serene atmosphere of nature while blocking urban noise.

This approach could become a defining feature of Otaniemi, drawing more people to the area and creating paths through the forest.
