Ballerina: Reimagining Space at Villa Arconati
Project Overview:
The Ballerina initiative stems from a collaboration with the historic site, Villa Arconati, nestled in Bollate, Milano. This project was born from an in-depth analysis of the site's geographical, historical, and social characteristics. With an aim to embody "GeoDesign" principles, our goal was to repurpose underutilized spaces within the villa into a communal artist hub, ensuring the preservation of the site's rich heritage and distinctive attributes.

Drawing inspiration from the Ballerina trees adorning the palace garden, this item reflects the symbiotic relationship between nature and architecture in Villa Arconati and Bollate. Its circular form and dynamic aesthetics echo these unique, site-specific elements.
Crafted as a practical yet aesthetically pleasing co-working piece for artists, the Ballerina features two tables and a lamp, all designed for effortless disassembly. This flexibility allows users to tailor their workspace to their needs, scaling it for group projects or condensing it for solo work, making it an ideal solution for constrained spaces.

In homage to the Ballerina tree, wood forms the centrepiece of our product designs. We incorporate lightweight aluminium or robust, scratch-resistant stainless steel depending on the product's location and environmental exposure. Lightweight, durable fabric and flexible, easily processable polycarbonate are also integrated into the designs. This careful material selection guarantees a blend of longevity and visual appeal, aligning with the Ballerina design ethos.
